1. What is DSL Retreat?
The DSL Retreat 2027 is an immersive leadership experience designed for Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL), Master of Strategic Leadership (MSL) professionals, doctoral leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, educators, consultants, and emerging strategic leaders.
Unlike a traditional conference, the Retreat creates space for participants to step away from the demands of leadership and intentionally examine the person behind the leader, their purpose, identity, thinking, relationships, influence, vision, and future.
2. Is this a conference, workshop, or retreat?
It incorporates elements of all three - but it is intentionally designed as a retreat.
The distinction is important.
A conference may fill your notebook.
A workshop may strengthen your skills.
A retreat gives you space to step back, think deeply, reconnect with purpose, and determine what comes next.
3. What is the theme of the 2027 DSL Retreat?
“Exploring the Inner Journey of Frontier Strategic Leadership.”
4. What makes the DSL Retreat different from a traditional leadership conference?
A conference often emphasizes information, presentations, networking, and professional development.
The DSL Retreat is designed to emphasize reflection, discovery, connection, transformation, and application.
Rather than simply asking:
“What can I learn?”
the Retreat encourages participants to ask:
“Who am I becoming because of what I have learned?”
5. Who should attend?
- Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) professionals
- DSL and MSL students and other doctoral students
- Executives and organizational leaders

6. Why is the “inner journey” important to strategic leadership?
Strategic leadership involves decisions, systems, people, organizations, resources, and the future.
But every strategic decision ultimately passes through a human being.
Our assumptions, experiences, values, emotions, biases, beliefs, ambitions, fears, and sense of purpose can influence how we interpret situations and make decisions.
The Retreat creates intentional space to examine those internal dimensions of leadership.
7. What does “Frontier Strategic Leadership” mean?
